Did you set your default install location to the E drive? If you didn't, please do: Open the Xbox App. Click on the drop-down and change it to the E drive. Also try changing the default location for new apps in Windows to your external SSD and then try installing the game again. Change the setting "New Apps will install to:" to the drive you want to use. Try it and let me know if it can be installed on your E drive.

In reply to Lucas Lauer's post on May 11, SwordofWhedon Xbox Ambassador. Locate the WindowsApps folder. If you cannot find one, create a new folder by the same name. Right-click on WindowsApps folder and select Properties from the context menu.
Navigate to the Security tab and select Advanced. Select Change to modify the permissions and grant access to the folder. Click Advanced in the Select User or Group window. Click on Find Now. Select your user account from the list at the botton and click on OK. Click on Apply to save the changes. Select OK in the Windows Security prompt that appears.
Finally, click OK to close the window. After making the changes, restart the computer and check if you can now save the games to the selected drive. If the game still can't be saved on your External SSD, please let me know and we'll proceed to further troubleshooting. Type netplwiz and press Enter. Click Add button.
